About This Place

Nestled along the scenic waterfront at 160 Nix Boat Yard Rd in St. Augustine, the St. Augustine Fish House & Oyster Company is a culinary gem that seafood lovers won’t want to miss. This vibrant restaurant specializes in fresh, coastal cuisine that showcases the very best flavors of the sea with an emphasis on Gulf oysters and hand-crafted dishes bursting with bold, savory notes.

Stepping inside (or settling into their inviting patio overlooking the marsh), you’re immediately drawn into an atmosphere that blends laid-back charm with a touch of seaside sophistication. Whether you’re sipping a Fish House Loaded Seafood Bloody Mary or indulging in a frosty beach cocktail as live music plays on weekend nights, the setting is perfect for unwinding and savoring every bite.

The menu reads like a love letter to fresh seafood. Imagine the satisfying crunch of perfectly fried shrimp and oysters nestled within a locally baked roll, layered with spring mix, marinated tomatoes, shredded cheese, and housemade po’boy sauce — a handheld delight that embodies Southern coastal comfort. The Bang Bang Shrimp bursts with spicy, tangy flavors that dance on the palate, while the Snow Crab and Mussels Pot offers generous portions of sweet shellfish cooked to tender perfection.

For those seeking options beyond the sea, the Berry Glazed Bone-In Pork Chop provides a juicy, flavorful alternative, and the Walnut & Beet Salad offers a refreshing, earthy counterpart. Don’t miss the indulgent shrimp n’ grits — creamy, rich, and layered with smoky, savory goodness that perfectly balances the dish.

Fans of bar favorites will appreciate the robust ¾ lb Cheddar Angus Beef Burger, made with fresh private label ground beef and topped with marinated tomatoes and cheddar cheese. Pair any dish with one of the carefully selected bottled beers like Sweetwater 420 or a crisp, refreshing Stella Artois, or indulge in a glass of wine—from bold Renegade Cabernet to elegant Firesteed Pinot Noir—each handpicked to complement your meal.

The experience is enhanced by attentive service and a friendly vibe, often highlighted by Scott, the affable manager easily spotted in his trademark Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. Patrons consistently praise the welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, especially enjoying the lively patio space and the live music that infuses weekend evenings with energy.

Customer voices echo this sentiment vividly: Larry raved about the Deviled Bacon Oyster Plate’s explosion of flavors and commended the attentive service, while Katie celebrated the “best hush puppies in all St. Augustine” and the generous, fresh salads. Denise’s delight over the unbeatable Wednesday 60-cent oyster special perfectly captures the joyful seafood feast experience that keeps locals and visitors coming back.

Whether you’re craving fresh Gulf oysters, succulent fried shrimp, or a lovingly prepared po’boy, St. Augustine Fish House & Oyster Company serves up not just meals but memorable dining moments steeped in the spirit of coastal Florida. It’s a destination where the briny air, vibrant flavors, and warm hospitality come together to create a truly special seafood experience.

The name has changed to The Boat House. The food was very good. The star was the Deviled Bacon Oyster Plate. The flavors were amazing. The entrees were very good as well. Our server Lucas did his job well. Really enjoyed our visit.

Stopped in for some raw oysters, in August. Louisiana oysters were okay but it was August. Raw oysters were not on many local menus so no material complaints there. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Not too crowded for a late summer Saturday afternoon. Bar and deck were very nice.

This is an amazing place to dine. My husband and I were in the area and stopped in about 3:30, they didn’t open until 4pm but we were told there would be a line soon. OMG they were telling the truth, by 4 o’clock there was at least 12 of us lined up for the Wednesday Special - “60 cent oysters”, YES I SAID THAT RIGHT!!! We ate from the HH Menu so we tried some of almost everything; Oysters, Fish Bites, Shrimp, Oyster Deviled Eggs, and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Everything is Fresh and Flavorful!!! The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, we met so many new people. Our service was outstanding, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Patio. Fantastic Service - Only declines when they are very busy. Live music on Saturday night! Food is fantastic. Salads are fresh & Huge portions. Good frozen “beach” drinks. Best hush puppies in all St Augustine - Just get the jam on the side!

Marsh-front restaurant with really good seafood and sides - I loved the bang bang shrimp and the plantains. Scott, the manager, can often be seen in his Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. Cool guy.

Our family of 6 went there on Thursday night for lobster night which was advertised at $21.99. The menu stated a side was included with a lobster. When will got the bill we were charged $8 each for the sides which bumped the bill a solid $50. I never ask for discounts outside of corporate stores. Food was good, service was really good and we left a generous tip. We dine at this establishment a few times a year and always enjoy ourselves. My rub is the pricing on this particular night had the taste of a bait and switch.
